We are excited to be growing our team to better serve our members and expand our partnerships, programs, and classes.
We are seeking a positive, organized, and service-oriented Shop Maintenance Technician to oversee the maintenance and functionality of our equipment, machinery, and facilities. This role includes planning, budgeting, and scheduling facility modifications, as well as managing costs for equipment, labor, and materials.
As the key organizer of our shop spaces, this position ensures that tools, materials, and workspaces are well-maintained to meet the needs of our members and users. This person will play a vital role in upholding the Roundhouse’s commitment to providing a safe, clean, and high-functioning environment for our creative community. Additionally, the Shop Maintenance Technician will provide mentorship and guidance on tool use for members, volunteers, class participants, and program partners.
Responsibilities:
The Shop Maintenance Technician is involved in both strategic planning and day-to-day operations of the Truckee Roundhouse (TRH), particularly in relation to buildings and premises. Responsibilities include:
Perform regularly scheduled maintenance tasks on TRH tools/facility as outlined by the TRH Maintenance Calendar and provide routine preventative, predictive, and reactive maintenance service
Respond to requests by the Community Manager, Volunteer Shop Leads, and Executive Director to:
Fix broken tools and fixtures in the Truckee Roundhouse shops
Replace worn consumables on TRH machines
Address any facility issues in need of attention
Communicate with relevant airport staff to ensure all TAD policies are being followed as maintenance tasks are being conducted
Work closely with the Community Manager to develop project-based curriculum for public classes and community programs
Assist with program instruction as needed
Provide onsite tool mentorship to members
Assist with Membership Tool Safety Checkouts
Assist with staffing the space during member hours
Manage and document donated tools and materials
Requirements/Qualifications
Have job-related experience (building management, construction, engineering, fabrication)
Based in Reno/Tahoe. (Hybrid WFH/ in-person at the space multiple times a week)
Must be available in person for instructor, volunteer, member orientations, and meetings and by phone as required.
Ability to work well with a diverse group of instructors, members, volunteers, board members, and the public.
Willingness to adjust hours to accommodate the needs of the job. Ability and willingness to work outside of normal office hours.
Very detail-oriented problem solver who is able to communicate well and juggle multiple priorities.
Strong community focus and customer service skills.
Proficient in common computer applications: SLACK, email or be willing to learn.
Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for transportation.
Proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
Additional Job Elements:
Must be able to stand/walk for up to 8 hours a day. Must also be able to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, & crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

Starting salary is $22 an hour. Compensation is based on the candidate's unique skills and experience.
