Welcome to the Roundhouse

We serve as a hub for independent creativity and community collaboration.

In our 4,600-square-foot hangar located at Truckee Tahoe Airport, we offer five fully functioning shops - Wood, Metal, Textiles, Ceramics, and Technology - with a robust complement of high-quality tools, including cutting-edge CNC Laser Cutters, Plasma Cutters, and 3D printers.

Why Roundhouse?

Truckee was built by the early railroad and the railroad still runs through our small mountain town. Historically, a roundhouse was a place where a train would be serviced before changing directions.

Our founders named our makerspace The Truckee Roundhouse as a nod to our region’s railroad history and to serve as a symbol of what is possible when folks walk through our doors - you can learn a new skill, meet a mentor, launch a small business, and positively change the direction of your life.

The power of a makerspace goes far beyond the value of tools and training.

Want to get involved?

We’re always looking to expand our community and build connections.

Community is everything

We are grateful to partner with some incredible organizations to uplift and support the creative potential of our region.

We are honored to partner with the Truckee-Tahoe Airport District in providing this space to the community. The makerspace model perfectly aligns with the airport's interest in supporting STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts) education.
